The Romanian PM Victor Ponta has been indicted for forgery, money-laundering and tax evasion. Prosecutors also temporarily seized his personal assets. Ponta announced he wouldstep down as leader of the Social Democratic party during the investigation.

A former British MEP was jailed for falsely claiming expenses, which he said to have used forfunding whistleblowers via third parties. Ashley Mote had earlier been expelled from UKIP for benefit fraud.
And finally, the Petrobras corruption scandal enters a new round: the federal police raided homes of several local politicians, including the house of former president Fernando Collor de Mello. Meanwhile, the state-run power company Electrobras launched an internal probe to investigate potential FCPA violations.
